Outbreak Updates

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that has been steadily increasing in both prevalence and geographic range worldwide. Although it has not historically been endemic to the continental United States, climate change and increased global travel have raised concerns about potential local transmission in southern states with suitable mosquito habitats. For the U.S., this highlights the need for enhanced surveillance, mosquito control efforts, and traveler education to prevent imported cases from triggering local outbreaks.
